ParkinGo MV's Christian Iddon will head the third row for tomorrow's World Supersport race but despite some front end issues hampering his qualifying session, the Stockport rider is confident he can challenge for a podium finish.
"I did the lap time on my own, which is nice and you can do that when you come to tracks that you know. It's good to be up there and mixing it. We're just three tenths off the front row," said Iddon, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the Derbyshire circuit.
"There's still a few things that we need to work on setup wise but all season we've been working on the back end of the bike, trying to get some grip but we seem to have found something that's working.
"The only issue is that it's now pushing the front. I had a few moments out there and it cost me some good laps. Even on my quickest lap, I tucked the front at the hairpin. Apart from that it's spot on.
"To get the MV that far up means we've got a good chance in the race. I need to get a clean first lap and see what happens. It's always a dog fight. Generally my starts have been pretty good and the bike's setting is running pretty well so there's no reason why we can't be fighting for that podium."
