Donington WSBK: Iddon fights through electrical issues

ParkinGo MV's Christian Iddon recovered from an early electrical issue, consequently missing two thirds of the World Supersport free practice session, to post a lap good enough for eighth place and the Stockport rider feels he has gained enough data for his setup to be good for the qualifying session this afternoon.

"I only managed to get six meaningful laps after the small problem with the electronics. It was a bit of a rush job but I think my data collected from the laps will be good enough to get a setup whereby I can challenge for the front two rows. The MV suits a fast, flowing track, which the first half of Donington is, whereas I suit the slower stuff; so I should be able to muscle it round the last sector to get the best out of the bike," said Iddon, speaking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon.

"To get on the first two rows would be amazing but it's going to be tough. You have an off day in the British Championship and you can hold on to a second row spot, have a bad day in Worlds and it's game over. If I can match the time I did here last year I'll be happy, it also proves the progress in performance of the MV.

"Tyres seem to be the only issue so far. I haven't had chance to try the softest compound so we're going to have steal some ideas from Roby [Rolfo] if we want to be competitive."
