Donington WSBK: Iddon impressed with setup changes

Alstare’s Christian Iddon will have to battle it out in Superpole one for tomorrow’s World Superbike qualifying session at Donington Park. The Stockport rider just missed being inside the top ten times but is confident that changes to his bike will enable him to be competitive tomorrow.

The rider on his Bimota BB3 Evo machine did struggle in the first session, but changes to the rear shock of his bike really helped with engine braking and corner entry. Iddon is happy with the changes, and is starting to really enjoy riding the bike.

“The day started out pretty tough as I struggled to do consistent lap times, but rear grip and corner entry was the main thing for me. Then we changed a few things and it improved everything in every way,” said Iddon, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening.

“The last session was the most fun I had on the bike all year, and I was able to play with the bike, and really enjoyed riding it. We have a good direction to head in.

"We made the bike longer which usually gets rid of grip but it actually helped today and we changed the rear shock and helped with engine braking. We are a lot closer to [Althea Racing's] Niccolo Canepa on the Evo bike – which is a nice thing and we are going in the right direction, that’s for sure.”
