Donington WSBK: 'One guy was making big lunges' - Rea

Honda's Jonathan Rea has given his verdict on the debacle which ended the second World Superbike race at Donington Park for Leon Haslam and Marco Melandri but handed the Irishman his second win of the year.

Rea inherited the win when Melandri tried an outrageous pass on his BMW team mate, ruined Haslam's line and Rea took advantage with a little fairing bashing mixed in.

"It was quite clear that there was one guy making big lunges. He came into the last corner and took Leon wide. I took the gap and Leon turned back and I was in his way. He touched the corner of my bike: it was a racing accident," said Rea, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

"Rolling into the last corner, I didn't expect to win it. But the gap showed itself and I put my bike right inside there. It’s nice to win and, in that second race, everybody wanted to win so bad. Leon is a friend and it's not nice to see him go down."
