Kawasaki’s Tom Sykes claimed a provisional pole position spot when he set the fastest lap time in the World Superbike qualifying practice session at a very wet Donington Park this afternoon, and despite a small crash at the Old Hairpin the Huddersfield lad is happy with his performance so far.
“I am feeling good, it was a strange session but the ZX10R is working well, but unfortunately when the rain came I had a small crash but other than that I am very excited and looking forward to the racing,” said Sykes, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit.
The Brit is comfortable with the Kawasaki and the way the season is progressing for him, but the rider is taking things in his stride and is relaxed about Superpole tomorrow and the races on the weekend.
“The crash was one of those things, if I can carry on with those types of crashes then I will be very happy, so overall I am very relaxed and looking forward to the rest of the weekend. The bike is good, Kawasaki are doing a great job and we are making slow progress all the time.”
