EUGENE LAVERTY'S PHILLIP ISLAND DIARY - DAY THREE

The weather was a bit iffy this morning and it rained for a short time at the start of the first session.  We kept our two new rear tyres for the afternoon qualifying so I was pleased to improve my lap time slightly on used rubber.  The gearing change was better, as was a small change to the rear setting.

I was confident of a row two slot ahead of final qualifying although we almost went one better.  I ran a little wide at the final hairpin which cost me a front row start but what matters is that my race pace is good.

Great job by all the team today to put me fifth on the grid, myself and Miguel did the most laps out of everybody so our mechanics certainly weren’t hanging around when we entered the pits!

In the evening we had the team photos taken on the start straight with the sea stretching behind us. It's the best place for team photos bar none, very picturesque.

Pippa and I are going out for dinner with Johnny Rea and his mate Gaz then it’ll be time for the cot.  My prediction for tomorrow is that I’ll be fighting for the podium.

It’s gonna be a dogfight as so many riders are on a similar pace so I’d suggest that you stay up and watch it live!  Hopefully, I’ll have good things to write tomorrow, we’ll see how it goes.
