Stiggy Honda's Leon Haslam reckons that front tyre wear is still a concern for him going into the second round of the World Superbike Championship at Qatar next weekend.
After the first Phillip Island race, Haslam's front tyre, which was the medium of the available options, was totally destroyed and even though his team changed to the hardest compound and altered the bike's geometry, it was still losing grip.
Writing in his bikesportnews.com column, Haslam said: "We moved to a harder front tyre and altered the bike's geometry so it wasn't quite so hard on the front. I just had to hang in there, not make so many mistakes and stay smooth.
"The harder tyre helped a bit but we know we have to do something with the bike in order to not wear the tyres so much. think because I was pushing hard, I was overloading the tyre the whole time so we made a change to get some weight off the front in race two, but it's something we will have to look at."
