Althea Ducati's Carlos Checa has taken yet another World Superbike pole position at the Nurburgring this afternoon but had a battle with Yamaha's Eugene Laverty who ran him close through all three Superpole sessions. Pata Aprilia's Noriyuki Haga has been in stealth mode all weekend but putting in some fast laps when it counts and he heads the second row with PBM Kawasaki's Tom Sykes and the works BMW of Leon Haslam for company. Liberty Ducati's Sylvain Guintoli couldn't keep up his early qualifying tre pace in the final session but finished in eighth.

For the second session in succession, Guintoli rescued himself from elimination with his last lap but he will be off Jonathan Rea's Christmas card list as the lap put the Castrol Honda man from eighth into ninth.

Rea had rolled down pitlane with only seconds to spare as the Frenchman crossed the line to go sixth but the Irishman just ran out of time and ended up in ninth place. Haslam just squeaked through in eighth while Mark Aitchison did well to take the Pedercini Kawasaki as far as 11th.
