Germany WSBK: Davies leads all-Brit Supersport podium

Parkingo Yamaha's Chaz Davies fought his way back from the middle of the World Supersport pack to take victory at the Nurburgring this afternoon but was harried all the way by a resurgent James Ellison with Sam Lowes taking a distant third place.

Davies got barged backwards into the first corner and ended up in ninth but was back to fourth by the end of lap two, eventually taking the lead with 15 laps to go and wasn't headed. After a mid-race slip, Ellison got back to second and the pair pulled away from Lowes.

Lowes, on the Parkalgar Honda, also had a blip mid-race but hauled himself back into contention but it was disaster for Step Honda's Gino Rea who had been in the mix for a race win but crashed with six laps to go, leaving Lowes to lap on his own with Luca Scassa closing but the Italian didn't have enough laps to catch the British champion.

Davies now has one hand on the title with a 59-point lead over the Motocard Kawasaki of David Salom with only 75 now available. Salom is, in turn, one point ahead of Fabien Foret's Ten Kate Honda in third. Broc Parkes is 67 points in arrears with Luca Scassa a further eight behind.
