Althea Ducati's Carlos Checa has bagged provisional pole position for Sunday's Nurburgring World Superbike double-header with Tom Sykes and Eugene Laverty joining him on the front row along with this morning's fastest man Davide Guigliano.
Checa put in a fast lap to bag top spot right at session end and was four-tenths faster than team-mate Guigliano with Sykes and Haslam only fractions slower than the Italian.
BMW's Leon Haslam was edged out of a front-row spot by Checa's 1'55.307 but the grtty Briton is only half a second off the pace. Aprilia's Max Biaggi is just behind the Derbyshire man with Honda's Jonathan Rea in sixth.
Leon Camier jumped from a mid-teens slot to eighth with his last fast lap, demoting Chaz Davies to ninth with Lorenzo Zanetti rounding out the top ten. Marco Melandri walked away from a mid-session crash and ended the session in 12th.
