Germany WSBK: World Supersport title bid ends for Lowes

PTR Honda's Sam Lowes saw his hopes of clinching a debut World Supersport title go up in a cloud of dust yesterday when he crashed out of a big-points scoring position and he could only re-mount to ride in 14th place.

The former British Supersport Champion is 58 points behind leader Kenan Sofuoglu with only 50 available from the final two races. Lowes' team-mate Jules Cluzel is still in with a shot but it will have to take a major error by the Turk to drop the 38 point lead he has.

"I'm really angry. I've made a mistake and lost the front. I'd like to apologise to everyone, both the whole Bogdanka PTR Honda team and our fans. There are still two races to go until the end of the season so let's go out and finish the year on a high at Portimao and Magny Cours," said Lowes.
