Andrea Locatelli had another successful weekend, but he left Balaton Park regretting a mistake that cost him a podium.
The Hungarian World Superbike Round was another promising weekend for Andrea Locatelli, as he finished inside the top five in all three races.
In the opening race, he finished in fourth, before finishing in fourth and fifth place on Sunday in the Superpole Race and Race Two.
However, he left the Balaton Park Circuit regretting a mistake he made in the Superpole Race that cost him a chance at the podium.
"I think it is a positive weekend as a whole," Locatelli told WorldSBK.com after the Hungarian WorldSBK Round.
"Maybe in the Superpole Race without my mistake when I was trying to pass Danilo Petrucci, I could have fought with Alvaro Bautista for the podium.
"I think we have completed another good weekend. Since Misano, we have been doing good work and have had solid weekends and solid results.
"This, at the moment, is the most important thing. But looking forward, we need to improve a little bit more because I don't think we are far from always fighting for the podium.
"Overall, I am quite happy, a bit sad because it was a new track, so to get one podium would have been nice.
"But it does not matter, I did my best, I was working 100% on the bike, so we need to be happy and keep looking forward."
One of the big talking points from the weekend was the tricky conditions on Sunday morning for the Superpole Race.
Locatelli was one of the riders to use slick tyres on a drying track, which ended up being the correct decision.
"The grip here in Hungary on this new track is quite good, and the temperature was quite warm," he explained.
"I think immediately when I was doing my sighting lap to come to the grid, I could see that the track was almost dry.
"It would have been easy to make a mistake, because we were only able to ride on the line. But for sure, in the end, it was the best choice.
"I was at the front, and I had heard that Toprak Razgatlioglu and Sam Lowes were also on slicks. So, I think it was a good choice, and without the mistake, maybe we would have had a podium."
