Newly-crowned European Superstock 600 Champion Gino Rea is to test Cal Crutchlow's Yamaha World Supersport bike at Portugal's Portimao circuit tomorrow.

The young Londoner will join James Ellison, Anthony West and Columbian Martin Cardenas to turn some laps on the bike which points to Yamaha wanting to rescue the squad instead of it folding as was previously the case.

"This week has been unbelievable, we wrapped up the Superstock 600 Championship at the weekend and have now been given a fantastic opportunity to test the Factory Yamaha World Superport bike tomorrow, here at Portimao," said Rea, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening.

"I flew home Monday evening and on the way back to my house I was told that I'd be testing on Wednesday, so it was a quick sleep, up at 4am and back out to Portugal. I've never ridden a Supersport bike so I can't wait to see what Cal's machine is going to be like. I'm excited to say the least."
