HASLAM MILLIMETRES FROM DISASTER - EXCLUSIVE PICTURE

This is how close Stiggy Honda's Leon Haslam came from being nerfed off my Max Neukirchner's errant Alstare Suzuki during the first World Superbike race at Assen last weekend.

Neukirchner crashed going into the final chicane at the Dutch track but his bike righted itself and carried on in a straight line after the German had been spat off. Haslam was travelling at around 70mph and missed the GSX-R1000 by millimetres.
Leon said: “It’s amazing how close Neukirchner and his machine actually were. You can see Max’s head just above my rear tyre so I think we both had a lucky escape.”
