Haslam 'plans to re-sign with BMW' in the next few weeks

BMW's Leon Haslam expects to put pen to paper with the BMW Motorrad World Superbike team for the 2012 season in the next few weeks as he wants to finish the work he started with the squad and win the world title.

Haslam hasn't had the best of years so far but a re-thinking of the way he is working with the company's massively complicated electronic systems is starting to bear fruit as he managed a creditable qualifying position on race tyres in Germany last weekend.

"I really want to finish what I started with BMW so the plan is to re-sign with them in the next few weeks. I have offers from pretty much every other team in the paddock but I think that is the right way to go," said Haslam, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening.

"We're finding a way forward with the electronics which we started at Silverstone. We have backed almost everything off to see what we can do with it and it is now really paying off. I ran good laptimes in qualifying, albeit on race tyres as we can't get the sticky tyres to work, and my pace would have been enough for second in race one had I not gone off."
