Honda boss Puig offers Crutchlow WorldSBK seat

Honda boss Alberto Puig has publicly offered Britain's Cal Crutchlow a seat in the WorldSBK team after ejecting him from its MotoGP operation.

Crutchlow will no longer be an HRC employee at the end of this season and his place in the LCR squad has been taken by Alex Marquez, himself shuffled out of the works team by Pol Espargaro.

"Cal in the last year's did a fantastic job for Honda, fantastic job for LCR, he helped us a lot to develop the bike," said Puig.

"At the same time he has been winning races and making a lot of podiums and we can only thank for the job he did for Honda and for the team.

"We expect and hope he will continue racing. I am sure he will find a good way. Unfortunately at this time, we don't have enough bikes and we decided to go this way.

"As you know, Honda has a World Superbike team and there is always a chance for him if he wants to contemplate this option with our new bike because also the target of Honda is to win that title in the near future."
