'I am just looking forward to being back on a Superbike' - Mackenzie is ready to take on WorldSBK

Gold and Goose

After a year in World Supersport Tarran Mackenzie will make the move up to WorldSBK next season with the MIE Honda squad.

Tarran Mackenzie reflected on the World Superbike test at Jerez where he once again got to test the MIE Honda Superbike. This was not Mackenzie's first time on the MIE Honda as at Misano he had a test, which did not go to plan.

However, the 2021 British Superbike Champion has put pen to paper on a deal to ride a WorldSBK Honda for next season.

"In Misano honestly I didn't have the most comfortable feeling," Mackenzie told WorldSBK.com. "Then I had a bit more time on the bike, all be a bit a different bike, in Japan I had a good feeling there.

"Here I felt comfortable straight away, that was the main goal of the test in Jerez to get comfortable and get a feeling. We have another test planned later this month, here again in Jerez to give me some idea on what I need to work on for January."

Honda had a difficult season this year in WorldSBK with their HRC riders finished 10th and 13th in the Championship.

However, Honda have stated that they will be bringing big upgrades for the 2024 season which will hopefully help Mackenzie and the other Honda riders to be competitive next season.

"They have big plans for sure," continued Mackenzie. "They have been very successful in Suzuka the last couple of years, they had a bit of a tough year this year it has been no secret. But hopefully with something new we can bring an improvement and push on a little bit further.

"Obviously I have experience on a different type of Superbike but I am sure all the experience will hopefully add up and bring something, I am just looking forward to being back on a Superbike.

"There is no goal in mind, for sure you have got to start in the points and push on from there. I am under no illusion it is going to be very difficult. I have just got to focus on myself and work hard over the winter."
