Two-time World Supersport Champion, Dominique Aegerter, learnt about his Yamaha departure through social media.
Dominique Aegerter recently found out that he would not be remaining with the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team for the 2026 season.
However, the Swiss rider who won two World Supersport titles for Yamaha found out about Stefano Manzi's arrival through social media.
"I had already suspected that Stefano Manzi might take my place," Aegerter told Speedweek.com.
"But then I found out through social media, on Instagram, that he had signed. Yes, it's obviously a bit disappointing, a bit disrespectful, that I didn't hear it in person after these five years of working with Yamaha.
"Now we have four races left, and I'll definitely give it my best. It will obviously be a bit strange working with the team like this, knowing that we won't be continuing next year.
"The decision was a bit disappointing for me. Of course, there was also a certain loss of respect on the part of the person who made the decision.
"Of course, I haven't achieved top results in the last two years. But I also had some injuries and illnesses last year.
"And this year, too, there were technical problems, engine failures, and I was also shot down. That, of course, didn't contribute to optimal results."
Aegerter now has no clear-cut option for the 2026 World Superbike season and has admitted that he is open to returning to World Supersport or MotoE.
"My manager has looked at all the good teams," Aegerter explained.
"Things aren't looking good at the moment because the good teams have already been taken. But we still have one or two options.
"If that doesn't work out, we might take a step back to the Supersport World Championship, MotoE, the World Endurance Championship, or a national championship.
"The goal is to stay in the Superbike World Championship. Of course, I want to show the people who don't believe in me—not my fans, my family, friends, or sponsors, but teams or manufacturers—what I can do and what talent I have.
"I want to give it my all in the Superbike World Championship. I want to start in 2026 with motivation and joy. That would be my dream."
