Alex Lowes and the bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team were able to claim their first podium together at Misano.

The Emilia-Romagna World Superbike Round was a landmark weekend for the bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team.

It was the squad's first home round at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, but it also marked their first front row and podium.

Alex Lowes was able to claim the first rostrum on the KB998 Rimini as he finished in second place in the Superpole Race on Sunday morning.

"I am really, really happy, the whole team deserve it," Lowes told WorldSBK.com about his first podium with the new bike.

"It is a new project, and it has not been the easiest start to the year. But it is almost like a dream to have the first podium of the year at Bimota's home race here in Misano.

"The race went well, obviously unfortunate for Axel and Bulega, but I then had good track position. I was able to get into a good rhythm behind Toprak, our bike this weekend has been working really well.

"When I could use the lines that I wanted to, we were really fast and really competitive. I have enjoyed it, I am happy to get that first podium, hopefully we will get more now.

"But I am going to enjoy this one because it means a lot to us all."

On his way to a second-place finish, Lowes was able to follow Toprak Razgatlioglu and was able to learn a lot from the Turkish rider.

"It was really important," he said about being able to follow Razgatlioglu.

"As we saw in the second race, when you get stuck in a group, the only two who can get away are Toprak and Nicolo. They are a step ahead, but there are 10 or 12 other guys who can do a similar pace behind.

"It was super important to be there, I was able to do five or six really good laps, really fast laps. This obviously helped us get the podium.

"I was a bit nervous the last two laps, I had a little gap to manage, and I started to think about all sorts of things.

"The second race was a bit disappointing, but overall the weekend has been good."
