The 2026 World Superbike season will be Bahattin Sofuoglu's second season in the series with the Motoxracing Team.
Bahattin Sofuoglu ended his rookie World Superbike season at Jerez, and got straight back to work on Tuesday, the 21st of October at the same circuit for a one-day Test.
After eight hours of testing, Sofuoglu ended the day fourth on the timesheets on his Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team R1. The Turkish rider was happy with how his test went and is 'motivated' for his next test.
"It went very well, actually it was better than we expected," Sofuoglu told WorldSBK.com after his one day of testing at Jerez.
"We finished this test very well. In the morning, when the test started, so did the rain, and then we had to wait until lunch break. After the lunch break, we made our plan for the test, which was a lot of parts that we had to try.
"Step by step, we were able to try all of them. For example, we tried four parts, and three of them we liked. Also, we tried different electronics, and for the first time after one year we were testing, there were a lot of things for us to try.
"Then we were able to make a good lap time. But after the lap time, we had another thing to try, but we did not have enough tyres. We are so happy with this result, and we are so motivated for the next test."
'I want to make success with this team...'
The 2025 World Superbike season was a difficult year for Sofuoglu, as he struggled with the Motoxracing WorldSBK Team, and set a better race lap time at the Test than across the race weekend at Jerez.
"Actually, I can explain it, we have been able to test after a year," he stated.
"Now we are more free, and it is after the season, now we can test anything in our minds, which is a lot. After that, we have seen the benefits, and we have been able to do better lap times."
Sofuoglu has put pen to paper for a second season at the Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team, and he is determined to be successful with the team.
"I am so happy, I wanted this a lot to continue in Superbikes with the same team," he explained.
"We are growing together with this team. So, I want to continue and make success with this team and with Yamaha."
