Parkalgar Honda's Eugene Laverty reckons he has unfinished business in the MotoGP paddock and wants to go back there in order to prove he is a world-class rider.
The World Supersport title contender spent a torrid year with the Blusens Aprilia team on an old and uncompetitive 250GP bike in 2008, and was so disillusioned he walked away before the season end. After a couple of rides with the works Yamaha Supersport team, he was snapped up by Simon Buckmaster's Louth-based squad.
"I feel that I still have a lot to prove in the MotoGP paddock and I want to go back there to show I am world class," said the Toomebridge youngster, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
"Because I was not on a good bike, I was never at the top of the 250cc charts and I reckon the people in that paddock also see World Supersport as some sort of rubbish class, which is not the case.
"I haven't ruled out a move to the Moto2 class for that very reason, but I also would like to move up to World Superbikes but all of this depends on the right package coming along."
