Jerez WSBK: Haslam ‘glad to see the back’ of 2013

It was a disappointing end to the World Superbike championship for Pata Honda rider Leon Haslam. In the final round of the year at Jerez the Smalley lad came away with zero points after two DNF's caused by electronic problems with his bike, and the rider is now ‘glad to see the back of’ 2013.

Haslam has been riddled with injury and bike issues throughout the season, and finished the year in thirteenth overall, in the championship. The Brit will remain with the Dutch team for next year, and will be under going surgery on his leg during the winter months, so he can get back to full fitness soon.

The Pata Honda team will re-group on Tuesday for a private test at Jerez when regular rider Jonathan Rea is expected to return from injury and the preparation work for the 2014 World Superbike championship season will begin.

“It’s difficult to know what to say, really. It’s been an unbelievably disappointing way to finish what has been a really difficult season. I’m glad to see the back of it to be honest and we’ll try to analyse what happened this weekend so that we can plan to get things in place for 2014,” said Haslam.
