Pata Honda’s Leon Haslam put in his fastest ever laptimes at Jerez during the three-day World Superbike test and was significantly quicker on race tyres than he was during last year’s race weekend.
The Derbyshireman says there is still work for him to do on the new Pirelli qualifying tyre but in terms of pace on used rubber, he was able to lap consistently in the 1’41s whereas in last year’s two brief race apperances, his best was a 1’43.888.
“I was pretty happy with the steps we made on the first two days. I struggled a little with the qualifiers but we have definitely made some progress on the race tyres and I was able to lap in the low 41s here,” said Haslam.
“That’s a massive improvement on the race at the end of last season, but that was one to forget really. I’ve been quicker than I’ve ever been around Jerez during this test and it’s always good to come back here and measure progress.”
