John McPhee will still be present on the 2023 WorldSSP Championship grid this weekend after securing a seat with the D34G Racing team for Motorland Aragon.

McPhee had been on the hunt for a new ride after parting ways with the Vince64 Kawasaki team between rounds nine and ten but has quickly found a new berth with new machinery in the competitive Ducati Panigale V2.

Headed up by ex-WorldSBK rider Davide Giugliano, McPhee is the latest rider to take over the seat originally slated for Oli Bayliss, who has made only sporadic appearances this year due to ongoing injury woes.

For the time being McPhee will be nominated as Bayliss’ replacement in the team for as long as it takes for the Australian to return, beginning with this weekend’s Round 10 in Spain.

“A huge thanks to Davide Giugliano and the D34G team for giving me this opportunity to join them. I’ve been very impressed when seeing their team set-up, and their Ducati V2 looks incredible!

“I’ll be looking to make my adaptation to the bike as quickly as possible and look forward to the upcoming races.”

Though McPhee - a Moto3 race winner - struggled for form in the dry on the Vince64 Kawasaki, his prowess in the wet did deliver a podium on his debut at Phillip Island and a top five finish in changeable conditions at Most.
