Jonathan Rea and the Pata Maxus Yamaha WorldSBK Team were able to complete a positive two-day test in Misano.

The World Superbike Championship were back on track at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli for a two-day test.

During which Jonathan Rea and the Pata Maxus Yamaha World Superbike Team were able to make good progress with the Yamaha R1. During the two-day test, Rea completed a total of 175 laps, including a full race simulation.

As well as working on his race pace, Rea also focused on his one-lap qualifying pace, something he has lacked on the R1. During the test, he was able to set personal-best qualifying times, which will set him up for the Misano World Superbike Round in a few weeks.

"It’s been a good day, we ticked all the boxes that we wanted to go through," Rea said after the Misano World Superbike Test.

"Test items, race simulation, time attacks and with some time to spare. It’s nice having two days where you’re not under pressure like a race weekend – also to try some things that you wouldn’t maybe try during an event.

"I really improved my feeling on the R1 and set personal-best qualifying times and also race tyre times. For sure, there is still more work to do to close the gap, but I think we’ve improved our set-up. I felt strong on the bike and did more than 100 laps today, and we’re just improving things step-by-step.

"Massive thanks to all the crew, they worked incredibly hard over the two days, changing many items with no complaints, no mistakes. Looking forward to coming back in a few weeks’ time and getting down to business."

This Misano Test has come at a good time for Rea as he has had a rotten start to the 2025 World Superbike Championship.

Rea missed the first three rounds of the season, and since returning for the two most recent rounds, he has scored points in two of the six races and finds himself 18th in the standings.
