Britian's Craig Jones set the World Supersport pace during day one of the two day World Supersport test at Vallelunga in Italy.
In extremely high temperatures Jones worked with new front forks and minor changes to his already competitive base settings. The strong set-up that the team found for the Parkalgar Honda at Misano stood by it during the test and allowed Jones to lap the Roman circuit in 1min 40.205secs, holding off the hard riding Broc Parkes.
His Parkalgar team-mate, Miguel Praia, was also in good form, running consistently in the top 15 and finished the day in 14th overall. His aim for tomorrow is to improve his lap times and move further up the standings.
The eighth round of the World Supersport Championship will take place at Brno in the Czech Republic on the 20th July.
Simon Buckmaster, Team Manager Parkalgar Honda: “It has been a pretty good test for us so far, especially with Craig setting the pace on track. We tried out some new forks and that was positive, but we have more to work through tomorrow. The Parkalgar Honda is really working well at the moment, and that leaves us in a strong position ahead of Brno where we hope to take the race win.
“Miguel has been progressing and we have been working on his settings so he is confident with the bike. We now want to improve his lap times when he goes on track tomorrow. I think the times set tomorrow morning will be the fastest from this test as the times in the afternoon session tend to be slower due to the high track temperature.”
