Randy Krummenacher joins CM Racing Team full-time for 2022 after subbing since Catalunya in the WorldSSP Championship.
Krummenacher has been successfully standing in for the injured Luca Bernardi at the CM squad since mid-September, despite being unable to attend Argentina due to visa issues. Winning his maiden race with the team, and securing three top-seven results, an agreement was reached to continue full-time for next year.
A change in rules sees a change in manufacturer for the former world champion as the Swiss rider switches from Yamaha colours, with whom he won his 2019 crown, to Ducati’s V2 955 for 2022.
“I’m pleased to stay in Supersport and be part of this historic change that, owing to a new regulation, will see different engine sizes taking to the track, the Ducati V2 955 included,” Krummenacher confirmed.
“First I want to thank Alessio Cavaliere, the CM Racing team principal, for having put his faith in me following Luca Bernardi’s injury. We immediately got on well together and scored a win in our first race at the Catalunya track. Now we’re preparing for Indonesia where the final round of the season will take place at the new Mandalika track, and then we’ll immediately start working on the new project with Ducati.
“I want to say a big thank-you to Yamaha. I’ve spent three Supersport 600 seasons with them, winning the world title together in 2019 and achieving my life’s dream.
Particular thanks go to technicians Manuel Cappelletti and Alessandro Alvisi, with whom I already worked in 2019 and who thought of me when Bernardi got injured, introducing me to the team principal and opening a new pathway for me. I put my faith in them once more as we embark on this new challenge
“Having had the chance to test it in the past, I really believe that the Ducati V2 955 will be a very competitive bike and that my team will be able to exploit its potential. We now focus on the final round which takes us to Indonesia and then we’ll get straight to work in preparation for next season.”
