Laguna WSBK: Another ‘frustrating’ race weekend for Haslam

Pata Honda’s Leon Haslam has branded his World Superbike weekend at Laguna Seca as ‘frustrating’, after crashing in race one and experiencing traction control issues and lack of grip from his rear tyre in the final race of the day on Sunday.

Haslam himself started from twelfth on the grid after electronics gremlins hampered Saturday’s Superpole two and the 30-year-old British rider suffered further engine management problems which restricted him to eleventh place at the end of the 26-lap race, and lost out to a place inside the top ten to temporary team-mate Michel Fabrizio, who’s standing in for the injured Jonathan Rea.

“It’s been another frustrating race day and I was more than a second a lap slower than the times I was doing Saturday. I had a lot of traction control problems and not so much grip from the rear,” said Haslam.

“I was also suffering a little from the affects of Saturday’s crash, but it’s definitely not what we were looking for. My pace on Saturday was good for top four or five but I wasn’t close to that, so it’s not been good.”
