MotoGP exile Iker Lecuona and Moto2 regular Xavier Vierge have this morning been confirmed with Honda for the 2022 WorldSBK season, leaving Leon Haslam jobless.
Lecuona, 21 from Valencia, made his debut in the Moto2 World Championship in 2016 and is currently completing his second year in MotoGP with KTM, while 24-year-old Vierge was born in Barcelona, and is concluding his sixth season in the Moto2 World Championship.
Britain’s Haslam will not continue with the squad for 2022 and is now looking for work. He has been linked with a move to the Paul Bird team in British Superbikes, but then again so has everyone.
Haslam moved into the new squad after a year with KRT but both he and former MotoGP rider Alvaro Bautista haven’t been able to take regular podium spots on the Fireblade.
“Over the time spent working together, we have had the opportunity to appreciate Leon as both a rider and as a person,” said team manager Leon Camier.
“We want to thank him for his hard work, dedication and full commitment to our project and the team. It has been a pleasure to work with him, and we wish him all the best for the future.”
