World Champion Dominique Aegerter claimed his fourth pole of the WorldSSP season at the new Mandalika Circuit in Indonesia.
Aegerter and Puccetti Kawasaki’s Can Öncü led the way as the inaugural WorldSSP Superpole action began amid humid conditions in Lombok. ParkinGo’s Manuel Gonzales rising to meet his fellow Yamaha as the Ten Kate commanded the 15-minute session from the outset with a 1’36.686.
MV Agusta’s Niki Tuuli and Federico Caricasulo - this weekend running with VFT Racing - remanned in touch as the opening minutes unfolded, the pair demoting Öncü to fifth after five minutes on track.
The final push for pole saw Randy Krummenacher advance to provincial pole with three minutes remaining on the clock, after registering a 1’36.650, 0.036s ahead of Aegerter before the CM Racing rider attempted to improve next time around.
Raffaele de Rosa shot for the lead before he was immediately dropped to fourth, Aegerter, Caricasulo and Gonzalez bettering in the penultimate minute. The World Champion in control once again thanks to a 1’36.288.
Aegerter secured his fourth pole of the season with Gonzales and Caricasulo joining him on the front row. De Rosa consolidated fourth from the late-charging Krummenacher and Tuuli while Philipp Oettl, Öncü and Seven odendaal prepare to line up on row three from this afternoon’s first race in Indonesia. Jules Cluzel a disappointing 13th place at the chequered flag.
