Pata Yamaha’s Alex Lowes has wrapped up his first test aboard the factory R1 at Jerez and says that although there is work to do with both the bike and himself, the potential and promise is big.
Lowes partnered Sylvain Guintoli at the Spanish track and after spending day one dodging rain clouds, the pair got a full day of circuit time in and now they will move on to Motorland Aragon on November 16 where they will again share the track with Kawasaki but also Ducati and Honda, where Nicky Hayden will make his debut.
“It was a good first test. I have learned a lot about the bike and there is plenty I need to change and work on. We as a team have a lot to do and improve but it is already feeling good, so there is a lot of promise and potential,” said Lowes, speaking to bikesportews.com from the track.
“We have got a good understanding of the direction we need to go but there is always stuff to improve. Considering it was the first time the bike has turned in laps with WSBK electronics, it was good. The team are fantastic and I can’t wait to get to Aragon.”
