Voltcom Suzuki’s Alex Lowes has been to see a specialist in Australia following the Phillip Island World Superbike round and has discovered he was racing with various fractures in his left leg.
The reigning British Superbike Champion was spat off his GSX-R1000 in third free practice but declared fit to race after being told it was a dislocation. The injury caused him problems in both races but he managed to score three points.
“Extended my Australia trip and been to see the specialist to get ankle fully checked out and turns out I've got fractured tibia a bone in my ankle and then three fractures in my foot. Glad I didn't just jump on the 24 hour flight home now,” he said on Facebook.
Lowes will remain in Australia for further treatment.
