Althea BMW’s Loris Baz is praying for the usual rain at this weekend’s Magny-Cours WorldSBK round as he believes it will help get a result in front of his home crowd in front of which he hasn’t raced for four years.
The lanky Frenchman has struggled with his Gulf-backed S1000RR for most of the season but found pace at the Portimao round with his best performance of the year so far. However, Baz has always been strong in wet conditions which are usually prevalent at the track at this time.
“I’m looking forward to the French round, as it’s always special to race at home. I haven’t ridden at Magny-Cours for a long time but it’s a great track,” said Baz.
“Having said that, I’m doing a rain dance because a little wet weather would actually help us. I’m pleased to head there following a strong event at Portimao, and we hope to finish the European part of the championship as well as possible.”
Unforunately, the weather forecast is unseasonably good with actual sunshine for the whole weekend and a temperature high of 26° on Friday.
