Xerox Ducati’s Troy Bayliss has vowed to reign in his riding to ensure he wraps up the 2008 World Superbike title at Magny Cours tomorrow.
Bayliss will start from third on the grid after a small mistake in on the last corner of his Superpole lap dropped him down the order behind Fonsi Nieto and Horiyuki Haga.
"I’m pleased with how the day went and am happy to be on the front row tomorrow, especially when I see that my second split was not quite right but anyway third place isn’t bad and the laps I completed in free practice before Superpole were pretty good too," said the affable Aussie.
:I’m looking forward to good races tomorrow. We’ve had very mixed conditions so far and finally we saw some sun this afternoon but I hope it will stay like dry overnight because the track is staying wet for a long time. I plan to pull the reigns in a bit tomorrow and calm myself down and get two good results."
A win-or-crash attitude at Vallelunga, which ended in the latter, robbed him of the title last time out. Bayliss believed he had to win in front of Haga to take the crown, but Michel Fabrizio had demoted Troy Corser to fourth meaning a second was good enough. On the last lap, so no pit signals to tell him the situations, Bayliss put a move on Haga, but lost the front and went out.
