Ten Kate Honda’s Andrew Pitt has taken his second World Supersport title at Magny Cours after championship rival and team-mate Jonathan Rea was punted off mid-race by Robbin Harms.

The Aussie had to fight off spirited charges from Barry Venemman and Josh Brookes in the closing stages of the 22-lap race but took the win by nearly a second.

Rea remounted to finish tenth but the championship was wrenched away from him as Stiggy Honda’s Harms tried long, late brake with 13 laps left, clipping the Irishman’s rear wheel and also taking out poleman Broc Parkes.
