Michael van der Mark is 'feeling 100 percent fit' ahead of his WorldSBK return

Gold and Goose

Michael van der Mark will return to WorldSBK action this weekend at the Czech Republic round of the season at Most.

Michael van der Mark has not raced in WorldSBK since his home round of the season earlier this year at Assen. van der Mark has been out for the majority of the season due to injury and will make his long awaited return to racing this weekend.

As it stands the Dutch rider is 18th in the WorldSBK Championship and has 19 points to his name. van der Mark has not taken part in the last four WorldSBK rounds so a return at Most will be a challenge in itself for the former World Supersport Champion.

“I am really happy to be back again," said van der Mark ahead of his WorldSBK return. "It has been a long time and I am looking forward to this race.

"It won’t be easy as I missed a lot of races so for sure the speed won’t be there from the start, but I’m looking forward to being back on the bike and to be back working with the boys, and to at least have a race under my belt before the summer break.

"Now, I am feeling 100 per cent fit again so I can’t wait to be back out and to enjoy this weekend before the break.”

van der Mark is making his WorldSBK return during a period of confusion for BMW when it comes to their situation for the 2024 season. There have been talks for months about who will ride for BMW in WorldSBK next season and van der Mark will want to impress to insure he will stay with the German manufacturer next year.
