Michelin plan to debut new World Superbike tyre this month

Gold & Goose

Michelin will reportedly bring their new World Superbike tyres to Jerez for a test at the end of the current season.

At the start of 2027, the Grand Prix and World Superbike paddocks will see major changes when it comes to tyre suppliers.

Pirelli are set to switch from World Superbikes to the Grand Prix paddock, and Michelin will go in the opposite direction from the Grand Prix paddock to World Superbikes.

Piero Taramasso, Motorsport Director at Michelin, had promised an initial test with their Superbike tyre before the end of 2025. It now appears that the French company will bring their new tyres as soon as possible after the current season ends.

According to GPOne, a test at the end of the season in October at Jerez has been scheduled by Michelin for certain World Superbike manufacturers. Bimota, Ducati, and Kawasaki could already participate with their 2026 lineups; BMW could also participate with Danilo Petrucci.

However, the new BMW rider, Miguel Oliveira, will not be able to participate due to his commitments to the MotoGP paddock. The same can be said for the factory Team HRC line-up of Somkiat Chantra and Jake Dixon.

No official details have been confirmed for the Michelin World Superbike tyre test, but more details will be released by the French tyre supplier in the coming weeks.

Michelin will not only supply tyres to the World Superbike Championship. They will also supply tyres to the Supersport World Championship, the new Sportbike World Championship and the Women's World Championship.
