BMW's Leon Haslam fell foul of electronics inconsistency in last night's World Superbike Superpole at Miller Motorsport Park and as the track dried out the rider aids on his S1000RR made it harder and harder to ride.
The Derbsyshire man crashed at turn six in the second sector of qualifying but re-mounted to ride a mud-covered bike into the pits but Haslam simply ran out of time and had to settle for a third-row start.
“We have been struggling with inconsistency in the electronic settings. The setup we used this morning in heavy rain worked really well, and I felt confident with the bike. Sadly come Superpole the conditions changed, the track began to dry and the settings we had simply weren’t working," said Haslam.
"The bike became harder to ride and I ended up crashing trying to push my way into Superpole 3. It’s quite frustrating because I felt really good this morning. With regard to tomorrow, it will all depend on the weather conditions, as we definitely have the pace in the wet.”
