Stiggy Hionda's Leon Haslam reckons this weekend's Miller Motorsport Park World Superbike round will be a real test as his team have no data for the track and Yamaha's Ben Spies will have a huge advantage.
Haslam is hoping for two strong finishes after crashing out of the first race at Kyalami only to take a hard-fought fourth in race two after battling with Jonathan Rea and Max Biaggi for much of the second leg.
“Miller will be a real test for me and for the team but we’re definitely capable of producing a competitive machine come Sunday. I don’t know too much about the circuit but last year a Honda won both races so that’s a positive and something to build," said Haslam.
“It’s the home round for Yamaha’s Ben Spies so he’ll be keen to impress and I’m sure that he’ll be quick around Miller. We’ve got a very good package and the team has again been improving the machine since the last round in South Africa.”
"I’m still disappointed with the crash in South Africa but bouncing back for a fourth place on the spare machine was pleasing. I’m hoping for two strong finishes on Sunday to get us set up for the remaining seven rounds back in Europe.”
