MILLER WSS: PARIS ANXIOUS TO GET GOING THIS WEEKEND

Miller Motorsport Park wildcard Melissa Paris reckons she is anxious to get going at this weekend's World Supersport round and doesn't mind if the race is wet as riding in the rain is "kind of fun".

Paris is one of a small number of women to compete in the World Supersport series in its history and although she is a relative novice, Paris is clearly excited about the prospect of competing on the world stage.

"Things are going pretty well so far. We had the opportunity to race a club event here at Miller last weekend. Even though I had to start really far back on the grid as I didn’t have any points with that particular series, we still got some really valuable setup time," said Paris, emailing bikesportnews.com last night.

"Josh [Hayes, Paris' partner] even had the chance to ride around with me which was really helpful too. We had a bit of rain, which was actually kind of fun. I think I’m starting to enjoy rain riding just because everyone else hates it so much!

We’ve been so busy trying to get our bikes ready to go. Mark (my crew chief) just put in my engine. I can’t wait to see how fast it is! I’m sure it won’t be quite as trick as most teams, but GYTR and LeoVince helped us get to together what I’m sure will be the best bike I’ve ever ridden.

"Other than that, I’ve spent most of the day with a box of rags and some spray polish cleaning my bikes. They’re filthy from riding in the rain. The Parkalgar guys, who I met when Josh rode for them last year, have been having a good laugh watching me working on stuff. I’m always happy to entertain. I’m just getting really anxious to ride!"
