Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) stepped up to score pole at Misano, by far his best performance since he joined Kawasaki this season.
He was fully 0.206 seconds ahead of next best rider Federico Caricasulo (BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha) and 0.297 seconds up on the second Bardahl bike of Randy Krummenacher.
Hannes Soomer (MPM WILSport Racedays Honda) was a strong fourth on a day when the usual Yamaha dominance was challenged.
Jules Cluzel (GMT94 Yamaha) placed fifth, but 0.710 seconds back from Mahias’ lead.
Local wildcard Luca Ottaviani (SGM Tecnic Yamaha) was sixth and Isaac Vinales (Kallio Racing Yamaha) seventh.
The Italian MV Agusta of Raffaele De Rosa was eighth on the grid and an unhappy Hikari Okubo (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) was ninth after finding problems in Superpole. One off rider Lorenzo Gabellini (Gomma Racing Yamaha) was tenth.
