Misano WSB: Lowes edges out Davies in first qualifying

Parkalgar Honda's Sam Lowes has taken World Supersport provisional pole position at Misano this afternoon, just edging out series leader Chaz Davies who crashed unhurt right at the end of the session.

Lowes swapped fastest lap with the Welshman, plus the Motocard Kawasaki rider David Salom most the way through the session with the Lincolnshire man taking charge at half-distance with a 1'40.088 and the bettering it 15 minutes later with a 1'39.990.

Salom had a brief foray to the top of the sheets with a 1'39.882 before Davies deposed him with a 1'39.618. Lowes put in his fastest lap with only five minutes left to run which remained unbeaten.

The second Motocard bike with Broc Parkes on board was fourth, just three-tenths slower than Lowes with wily veteran Fabien Foret fifth and wildcard Dionisi in sixth place. Robbin Harms, who crashed unhurt at turn four, took seventh, Florian Marino eighth, Massimno Roccoli ninth and James Ellison tenth. Gino Rea, who also lobbed it unhurt at turn four, is 16th.
