Monza WSBK: Camier looking to cut 10mph top speed deficit

Fixi Suzuki's Leon Camier is on the hunt for a way to cut the near-10mph difference between his GSX-R1000 and the satellite BMW of Michel Fabrizio, who was fastest through the speedtrap at Monza's World Superbike round today.

The Andorra resident is only able to muster 198.8mph compared to the Italian's whopping 208.1mph but some of the experimental work Camier did on setup today has proved beneficial - plus he has some slipsreaming tricks up his sleeve.

"This morning we tried a lot of different things and made a few experiments. Some of the stuff we tried worked and some didn't, but we understood more about what happens with the changes and we got some ideas about which directions to take," said Camier.

"We went towards a more conventional gearing set-up this afternoon and continued our work improving the electronics. The speed trap shows that our bike is down on power compared to our rivals, but I could put in some pretty good times by slipstreaming. Tomorrow, we'll see if we can get a bit more power and top speed - both very useful at a track like this."
