Monza WSS: Pole for Davies with Lowes next door

Parkingo Yamaha's Chaz Davies bagged his first World Supersport pole position at Monza today with fellow Brit Sam Lowes, riding with a broken collarbone, chasing him hard for second on the grid.

The Welshman battled with team-mate Luca Scassa for top spot until the Italian crashed at the Parabolica. Davies is a quarter of a second in front of Lowes' Parkalgar Honda with veterans Broc Parkes and Fabien Foret completing the front row.

Roberto Tamburini heads row two with Scassa next to him, while youngster Florian Marino managed to keep virtual old stager James Ellison behind him. Eighth-placed Ellison took nearly two seconds off his time yesterday but it has been disaster for Gino Rea.

The Londoner set a time of 1'49.153 in first qualifying but his lap speed plummeted to 1'52.494 today. Yesterday's time kept him ninth for tomorrow's grid but today's lap was 26th fastest.
