Parkingo Yamaha's Chaz Davies says it feels wonderful to be on top of the World Supersport points table following his runaway win at the Monza round yesterday which made it two in a row for the Welshman.
Davies, who has the same number of points as team-mate Luca Scassa but two wins, led as soon as the lights went out and never looked back, crossing the line with a five-second advantage after consistently lapping half-a-second quicker than anyone else.
"For the first time I am at the top the world rankings and it is a wonderful feeling. I knew that if I could I could try and break away, stretching the group it would made it difficult for them and I knew Luca would come out to try to fight for the victory," said Davies.
"I pushed hard for most of the race, then after building a good margin I just controlled the advantage at the front. I am very pleased to be able to repeat the victory at Assen, I must thank all my team for their excellent work."
