PTR Honda's Sam Lowes had to battle his way back through the World Supersport pack and settle for a 12th place finish after being given a ride-through penalty for jumping the start in Moscow this afternoon.
The Lincolnshireman was very fast off the line but was brought in for his penalty not long after, re-joining down in 22nd place and facing an uphill battle to take any points. He slips down to third in the title chase after the race was won by rival Kenan Sofuoglu and his own team-mate Jules Cluzel came in second.
"I was feeling confident ahead of the race after a solid weekend here in Russia but jumped the start and had to come in for a ride through penalty. I went back out and did my best to salvage some points but it's disappointing for this weekend to end that up. We won't keep fighting until the end though, so I'm already focused on the next round in Germany," said Lowes.
