British teenager Alex Murley will return to the WorldSBK paddock at the next round in Portugal where he will make his WorldSSP debut with GEMAR Team Lorini.
He will ride for the Italian based squad in all remaining rounds of this year’s FIM Supersport World Championship.
As it is not possible to race with his customary #18, Alex will race a CBR 600cc Honda with the number 12 when he takes to the track in Portimao in a fortnight.
A regular top ten runner in WorldSSP300 last year, Alex is relishing the opportunity to learn from the World’s best as he opens the next chapter of his racing career.
“After such a difficult year I am so grateful for the opportunity to join GEMAR Team Lorini Honda for the rest of the World Supersport season. I have been working hard to ensure I am fully fit and in the best shape I can be for my first race in Portimao,” said Murley.
“I know how fast the guys in World Supersport are and I am not expecting it to be easy. The goal is to improve each session and close the gap to the front with one eye on 2019, as for sure a full season next year is something I am focused on. I can’t wait to get back out on track and want to thank Redfern Stevens, Bell Helmets, Mass Leathers, Gaerne and everyone else who has supported me in some way for keeping me on the grid.”
