Chaz Davies arrives at the second new track in a row this weekend as his WorldSBK Go Eleven Ducati team gets set for round seven at Navarra in Spain.
One day of testing, back in May, is all the Welshman has in his locker ahead of the Los Arcos circuit’s inaugural event, but Davies is hopeful that the bumps are ironed out ahead of Friday’s first practice.
“Here we are at Navarra! It’s another new circuit, but we have tested here - I just did one day a few months ago, before the beginning of the season,” Davies said ahead of round seven.
“It was enough to learn the track and some of the details of the circuit so we had a basic understanding but obviously this weekend is when it counts.”
The atypical layout features 15 corners, seven from first gear, creating a somewhat slow and collected track - in which acceleration from low speed will be really important - while also housing one of the fastest corners on the calendar. Weekend temperatures are expected to be high, with tyre choices once again paramount for the two feature races.
“We will aim to start strong tomorrow and try to carry that through the weekend,” the Ducati rider continued.
“Possibly the circuit may have had a little bit of care since the test, so we need to understand how that affected the bumps, because it was very bumpy, and from what I understand, it’s something they have tried to improve for this weekend.
“Physically I feel a step better than in Most, it’s still not 100%, but it’s going in the right direction. So looking forward to the weekend, hopefully have positive one!”
