Jerez confirmed as new 2023 WorldSBK season finale venue

The Circuit de Jerez - Angel Nieto has been announced as the new venue for the final round of the 2023 WorldSBK Championship season.

The event will take place on 27-29th October in place of the erstwhile finale that was due to take place at the San Juan Villicum circuit in Argentina to ensure four more rounds of the 2023 WorldSBK season will still play out when action resumes after the summer break in September.

It marks a return to the schedule for the Jerez circuit located to the south of Spain in the Andalusia region after it slipped off the calendar last year.

"We are delighted to bring the WorldSBK championship back to its roots at the legendary Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto for the final round of the 2023 season.

"Jerez holds a special place in the history of our sport, and it is only fitting that we conclude this remarkable season at a venue with such rich heritage.

"We look forward to witnessing the fierce competition and celebrating the sport's legacy with the passionate fans in Andalusia."

Political instability and the spectre of local elections were behind the reason to cancel the planned South American jaunt for this year's finale.

The last round to take place at Jerez in 2021 was marred by the death of Dean Bertha Vinales in the WorldSSP 300 race, which triggered the final WorldSBK race of the weekend to be cancelled.
