BMW World Superbike star Leon Haslam has revealed he has more than one option to make a move into MotoGP's CRT class but says he doesn't have a big interest in moving there for 2013 as at least a factory-backed bike is required to get results in the premier class.
The Derbyshire man has experience in Grand Prix racing and says he would rather stay in WSBK on a good package for a couple of years than take a gamble in the CRT class for just a season.
"Obviously it’s close to decision time and there are going to be a lot of announcements. From my side it’s been a tough year just through bad luck and I would like to continue with the BMW projects as it’s definitely a winning package," said Haslam, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
"For me, it’s nice to have other options, it’s nice to think I can pick which bike I want to be on and nice to have GP options, but in the grand scheme of things I want to be in a team that wants to not only win, but win for a long time and my main focus at first will be that.
"I've two or three MotoGP options mainly CRT but in all honesty, I’ve been to GP, I know you need a full factory bike, you need the full package and with a lot of teams struggling financially and CRT not knowing where it is, it’s not a big priority or interest for me."
